Introduction
On April 20, 2010, the date of the Deepwater Horizon rig accident in the United States Gulf of Mexico, the pace at which the United States was moving to produce offshore oil and gas was greatly altered. As with previous tragic accidents not only in the United States but across the globe, the spotlight shined extremely bright on the oil industry.
