China's Booming Gas Sector: Threat or Promise?

Introduction
February 2011 - China's domestic natural gas sector has changed beyond recognition over the last twenty years. Back in the early 1990's, annual domestic production was about 16 billion cubic meters and natural gas accounted for about 2% of total primary energy supply. Most of the gas was produced and used in just two regions, Sichuan in the south-west and Daqing in the north-east.
