Renewable energy sources, such as wind, have come to the forefront as international efforts to reduce greenhouse gases have gained momentum. But there is a large gap between acceptance of wind energy as an alternative energy source and actually siting wind turbines. This paper explores how laws protecting aesthetics affect the siting and development of wind energy on private lands in two common law countries, Australia and the United States.
