Abstract
Turkmenistan, holding at least 70% of the total natural gas reserves in Central Asia, appears to have prioritized Sino-Turkmen energy cooperation. China, now the world's largest energy consumer, vows to raise the share of natural gas in its primary fuel mix from 4% to 10% by 2020, with the incremental demand in absolute terms matching the 2010 consumption levels of Britain and Germany combined.
