Abstract
This article discusses the expansion and relevance of the Energy Charter to developing economies and regions such as Africa, in particular in respect of the oil and gas developments in West African countries. The article advocates that despite the Charter's inception in the 90s during the Cold War in Eurasia, it is still relevant today following its transformation as a political declaration in The Hague in May 2015.
