Abstract
Oil exploration in Nigeria has progressed to deep waters leading to greater revenue for Nigeria. While the economic benefit has increased significantly, the number of offshore oil installations in the Nigerian maritime zone has risen to over 170 offshore installations. The economic benefit derived from the exploration of offshore oil cannot haze the realities of abandonment or disuse of such installation in the future.
