Introduction
The UK is connected to mainland Europe and Ireland by means of a series of electricity and gas interconnectors. For electricity, these are the Interconnexion France Angleterre ("IFA") to France, BritNed to the Netherlands, Moyle to Northern Ireland, and the East West Interconnector ("EWIC") to the Republic of Ireland. Currently seven electricity interconnectors to France, Belgium, Norway, Denmark and Ireland are in the planning phase.
