Nord Stream 2 Pipeline and the Application of EU Energy Law

Introduction
Nord Stream 2 will, when completed, bring gas from Russia to Germany. The offshore section of the pipeline will extend over around 1200 kilometers across the seabed of the Baltic Sea. Within the EU, the pipeline will cross the EEZ of Finland and Sweden as well as the EEZ and territorial waters of Denmark and Germany. It will connect with the German pipeline system in onshore Germany at exit point in Lubmin near Greifswald.
