Sustainability in the Energy Sector: Policy Directions and Implementing Measures

Introduction
This paper takes as its starting point that the concept of 'sustainability' in the energy sector context encompasses two main ideas. First, the concept enshrines the need of cutting the greenhouse gases that can be best done through the introduction of energy efficiency measures and low-carbon energy sources in addition to carbon pricing, which in turn require enabling, long-term policies and attractive regulatory frameworks.
