Abstract
The Flare Gas (Prevention of Waste and Pollution) Regulations 2018 came into force on 5 July 2018. The Regulations which apply to all petroleum leases, licences and marginal fields in Nigeria, aim to provide a legal framework for the protection of the environment against the adverse effects of gas flaring, prevent waste of associated gas and create social and economic benefits to Nigeria from gas which would otherwise be flared during oil production operations.
