Abstract
This paper profiles Guyana and details the political history, state of the economy, nature and magnitude of existing exports, and the role new offshore oil and gas development can play in improving the standard of living for the country's 760,000 citizens. Certainly one focal point is the pending election of a new government and the probable impacts of a change in government on the prospects for current and future offshore oil and gas development.
