Abstract

This article contextualises, summarises and comments on the proposals published by the European Commission as part of the Fit for 55 package to amend the Renewable Energy Directive II (RED II). After outlining the historical development of the various EU renewable energy provisions and contextualising the proposed amendments of the Renewable Energy Directive II, the authors provide an overview of, and commentary on, the main provisions of the same.
