Abstract
Despite its successful implementation, the Australian Government under the immediate past Morrison administration, signalled the winding down of the Renewable Energy Target (RET) in favour of other energy policies which mainly focus on deploying technology to drive down electricity costs and encouraging choices over mandates. This article takes the position that these current policy leanings should not be executed at the expense of sustaining climate action programmes in the electricity industry such as the RET.
