Summary
Legislative Decree No 164 of May 23 2000 (so-called 'Letta Decree'), implementing Directive 98/30/EC, liberalised the gas sector in Italy. Since its enactment, the Letta Decree has been brought before the courts several times, and nearly always with respect to distribution service-related issues. There follows a summary of the issues arising from the Letta Decree's first implementation.
