Legal Issues relating to Contracts in Iraq

Introduction
In response to calls to invest in Iraq, international investors - both those already in Iraq and those who would like to be - should proceed carefully and be aware of issues of international law. In general terms, two issues need to be considered: the legal validity of contracts signed before the recent regime change and that of contracts signed afterwards.
