Abstract
This contribution analyses the main provisions and novelties of the draft Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure, and repealing Directive 2014/94/EU. This draft Regulation is part of the "Fit for 55" package. Discussion is devoted to five main areas: a) electric recharging infrastructure, b) hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, c) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) infrastructure, d) targets for shore-side electricity supply in maritime ports, inland waterways ports, and targets for supply of electricity to stationary aircraft, and e) national policy frameworks, their review and progress tracking, consumer information and data provisions, respectively. Conclusions are drawn from the draft Regulation in light of the outcome of the meeting of the Transport Council, on the 21 December 2021.
