Japan Liability for Oil Damage Act 1975. Article 1 The purpose of this Act is to make clear the liability of shipowner in the case where oil loaded in a ship caused oil pollution damage and to establish a system to insure and secure compensation for oil pollution damage in order to protect the victim of the oil pollution damage as well as to contribute to sound development of marine transportation.
