Indra Overland
Profile
Mr. Overland is Head of the Energy Programme at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and Associate Professor at the University of Tromso. He did his Ph.D. at the Scott Polar Research Institute of the University of Cambridge and was awarded the Toby Jackman Prize for best dissertation in the year 2000.
His current areas of research include post-Soviet energy politics, reduction of energy subsidies / increasing energy prices, hydrocarbons and conflict, pipeline conflicts, the politics of LNG and indigenous peoples and oil extraction. Geographically his work focuses on the post-Soviet High North and Deep South, including Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Georgia. He speaks fluent Russian.
