Rainer Behnke graduated with a Diplom-Engineer in electrical engineering and power supply and has two decades of experience in international consulting in the energy sector.

Within the last 10 years, he has implemented a number of consulting projects in CIS and Central Asia for international donors, such as the EU, UNDP and international Banks. His particular focus and know-how is the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy of investment projects in the frame of credit facilities accompanied by capacity building components.

In his current position as project manager, he is responsible for the implementation of the technical assistance components of KAZSEFF (Kazakhstan Sustainable Energy Financing Facility), on behalf of EBRD. This comprises the coordination of marketing and project engineering with the aim of developing a project pipeline of viable investment projects for Kazakh partner Banks. He is based in Almaty and the home office of MVV decon, Berlin/Germany.
