Profile

Transparency International (TI) has been at the forefront of the anti-corruption movement since it was formed in 1993. TI is a non-profit making, independent, non-governmental organisation, dedicated to increasing government accountability and curbing both international and national corruption. TI(UK) does not seek to expose individual case of corruption, but rather seeks to promote remedies for its underlying causes Mark Pyman works with Transparency International UK. He is the Project Leader for TI’s international defence project, entitled ‘Defence against corruption’. He has led this project since January 2004, working with a team of anti-corruption experts and former senior military officers. The team engages at senior level with Defence Ministries of importing and exporting countries, and with the larger defence companies worldwide. They are also engaged with NATO, developing practical ways of building integrity and reducing corruption in NATO ally and partner countries. They are developing civil society tools for strengthening oversight and integrity in defence establishments.
