Shray Tapiawala
Profile
Shray Tapiawala is a J.D. Candidate, 2025, at The George Washington University Law School, concentrating in Energy Law. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Arts in History from The University of Texas at Austin in 2021. Prior to law school, Shray worked as an International Engineer at Invenergy, where he developed solar and battery storage projects across Texas, the Midwest, Israel, Greece, and Mexico. During law school, he has interned with Rath, Young & Pignatelli; the U.S. Department of Commerce's Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP); Davis Wright Tremaine; and D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments, all in roles focused on energy law. He is currently serving as a Legal Intern at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. At GW Law, Shray serves as Senior Projects Editor of the George Washington Journal of Energy & Environmental Law, a Teaching Assistant for Climate Change and Policy, and is actively involved in the South Asian Law Student Association and the Environmental and Energy Law Association. Shray would like to extend special appreciation to Professors Laura Smith Morton, Jane Rueger, and Josh Kaplowitz for their exceptional teaching in the Offshore Wind Law class, and for deepening his understanding of offshore wind development and FERC regulatory issues.
