Susana has over 20 years of experience and her practice is focused on ESG, Environment, Climate & Carbon, Regulatory and Energy & Natural Resources.
She is the Head of Miranda Alliance's ESGimpact+ Team and works very closely with Miranda Alliance's-based teams in matters concerning ESG and Climate & Carbon matters. Susana has also been involved in foreign investment projects of various natures and her practice covers several Lusophone and Francophone jurisdictions in Africa.
Representative experience:
- Advising on carbon offsetting frameworks and assisting in structuring of carbon projects - Angola, Mozambique, Côte d'Ivoire, Congo, Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo
- Assisting nature-based solutions (NBS) projects' developer in implementing large scale REDD+ project in Mozambique aimed at linking national parks, game parks, private game reserves/farms and cattle ranches with communal forest areas to facilitate biodiversity adaptation to climate change through the establishment of corridors (project areas) that are conserved and restored by stakeholders, tenure holders and local communities
- Assisting IOCs and international nature-based solutions (NBS) projects' developer, in structuring and implementing clean cooking projects, and reviewing Household Agreements in connection thereto - Angola, Mozambique and Congo
- Advising international nature-based solutions (NBS) projects' developer, on domestic legal framework governing forestry exploitation and conservation and REDD+ readiness - - Angola, Mozambique, and Democratic Republic of Congo
- Advising IOCs on community relations-related matters including in reviewing internal policies aimed at preventing and addressing HIV, malaria and contagious diseases, land encroachment, bribery and corruption, and community development projects - Mozambique
- Advising IOCs and international nature-based solutions (NBS) projects' developers, on land access, emphyteusis rights and indigenous peoples' rights - Congo and DRC
- Assisting several companies on environmental protection and licensing matters - Angola, Portugal, Mozambique, Congo, Guinea Bissau, Timor Leste, Senegal, Equatorial Guinea, and Democratic Republic of Congo
