Professor Edmilson Moutinho dos Santos is engineer and economist from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He holds the following degrees: Master in Energy Systems and Policy from the University of Campinas, Brazil; Master in Energy Management and Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, USA; and Doctor in Energy Economics from the French Petroleum Institute, France. He is Associate Professor in the Graduate Energy Program, University of Sao Paulo, where he teaches and develops research on Energy Economics, Policy and Regulation, with focus on Petroleum and Natural Gas. Professor Dos Santos works as a Consultant for Brazilian government agencies, energy companies and NGOs.
Since 2000, he has been a Visiting Professor in the University of Calgary, Canada, teaching the Introduction for Non-Renewable Energy in the joint Master Program in Energy and Sustainable Development held by UofC and OLADE, the Latin American Energy Organization). His current researches have particular emphasis on the development of natural gas markets in Brazil. Professor Dos Santos coordinates the Brazilian Energy Forum, a website dedicated to discuss energy issues in Brazil.
In 2001 and 2002, he published respectively the books: "The Brazilian Oil and Gas Sector: Outlook and Opportunities" (CWC Publishing Limited) and "Natural Gas: Strategies for a new energy in Brazil" (Annablume Publishing House). He is the Editor of the Brazilian Energy Forum (www.energiabrasil.com.br); Associate Editor at Oil, Gas & Energy Law Intelligence (OGEL) and a member of the editorial committee for the Online Journal Energy Politics.
