Pia Acconci
Profile
Pia Acconci has been a researcher and a professor of European Union Law and International Law for more than ten years.
She got a Ph.D. in International Economic Law at the Universitŕ Commerciale L. Bocconi, Milan in 1997, an Italian National Research Council (CNR) Fellowship from 1998 to 1999 and was awarded the special prize "eccellenza nella ricerca" ("Excellency in Research") at the Universitŕ Commerciale L. Bocconi, Milan in 2002.
She was a Professor of International Law on Investments on a temporary appointment at the Amsterdam Law School of the University of Amsterdam (2002, 2005 and 2006). She was also a member of the ILA Committee on International Law concerning Foreign Direct Investment of the International Law Association (2004-2008).
Meanwhile, she has taught at several universities in Italy and has been a member of the Editing Staff of the Italian Yearbook of International Law.
She is the author of many articles and two books - "Il collegamento tra Stato e societŕ in materia di investimenti stranieri" ("The Link between State and Company in the Field of Foreign Investments"), Padova, Cedam, 2002, and "Tutela della salute e diritto internazionale" ("Protection of Health and International Law"), Padova, Cedam, 2011, as well as the editor of "La responsabilitŕ sociale d'impresa in Europa" ("Corporate Social Responsibility in Europe"), Napoli, ESI, 2009. Her writings mainly concern the requirement of corporate nationality in international investment law, corporate social responsibility in international law and European Union law, human rights protection and health issues in international law.
