Abstract
The regulation of controversial shale gas is not harmonized in the EU, and some countries have banned the production method - hydraulic fracturing, fracking - while some countries are encouraging shale investments. Simultaneously there is a question of whether the EU should regulate shale gas activities more so that the environmental effects could be properly addressed.
